Dr. Brent Hopfauf was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He attended the University of Calgary from 2002-2006 where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Biological Science with Distinction. In 2006 he was accepted into the University of Waterloo Optometry program and in 2010 was honoured to represent his graduating class as the Valedictorian.
At the University of Waterloo Dr. Hopfauf gained experience in many specialty optometric fields including pediatrics, contact lens, geriatrics, binocular vision, and ocular disease. His training also included an ocular disease rotation at the Houston Eye Associates in Houston, Texas. There he gained experience in glaucoma, pediatrics, uveitis, and corneal care.
After graduating, Dr. Brent Hopfauf (or Dr. H or Dr. Brent) returned to Calgary to begin practicing Optometry. Dr. Hopfauf is excited to join the Mountain View Optometry team which shares his view of “patient centered” and “preventative” optometry. He also believes in educating his patients about their condition so they may be empowered to make the best choices about their eye health. Dr Hopfauf’s areas of interest include primary care, pediatrics, and ocular disease especially glaucoma and dry eye.
Dr. Brent Hopfauf is a member in good standing with the Alberta College of Optometrists and Alberta Association of Optometrists. When he is not working he enjoys playing hockey, golfing, snowboarding, and watching as much Flames hockey as possible.
