“My 5 yr old did not want to have his eyes checked, was very nervous, but because of the staff instantly he felt comfortable and forgot he didn't even want to be there. Thank you, he told his little brother that it was fun and when it's his time to go he'll go with him and show him how cool it is and that he doesn't have to be scared.”

Your Child’s Vision
Our Optometrists recommend that you bring your son or daughter in for their first eye exam at 6 months of age, then annually thereafter. Alberta Health covers basic eye exams for children aged 18 and under.
At least one in 6 children has a vision problem that may interfere with their learning abilities. A child who has not developed clear vision by the age of 6 is not likely to do so later in life. Do not wait for your child to tell you he or she is having trouble seeing. What they see is “normal” for them. Some problems show very few (if any) symptoms and can only be detected through a regular eye exam.
If we can catch problems early, in many cases they can be treated. Your child does not need to know the alphabet first before we can do an eye exam!
