Each patient has different eye care needs and our doctors strive to understand them in order to provide the best possible solution that addresses all your requirements.

Visit us at Mountain View Optometry and receive the following:

  • Individualized attention in a relaxed environment
  • The latest technology, equipment and instrumentation to increase detection of diseases and disorders
  • An eyeglass prescription, determined using 3 different methods to ensure total accuracy
  • A glaucoma test to measure your eye pressure
  • An optomap® Retinal Exam
  • Digital Retinal Photography
  • A personalized consultation to review and discuss the results of all your tests

We work closely with your Family Doctor to ensure that appropriate information is communicated. This ensures that you receive the most complete care possible that integrates properly with your overall health care plan. We also have developed referral relationships with excellent retinal, cataract, and corneal ophthalmologists should specialist care be required.

Our doctors of optometry recommend that you have your eyes examined once every one to two years. Contact lens wearers require annual visits, as do those with certain risk factors determined during regular visits.

Alberta Health currently covers one complete eye exam per year for patients aged 18 and under, and seniors aged 65 and over.

We make education and awareness a top priority, and encourage any questions pertaining to your eyes, any visual conditions or optical requirements. The more information you give us with respect to your specific needs, the more we are able to help you.

An eye exam is one of the best ways to protect your vision because it can detect eye problems at their earliest stage when they’re most treatable. Regular eye exams give your eye care professional a chance to help you correct or adapt to vision changes.

Here are some general guidelines to follow for optimal eye health:

Children & Adolescents

Bring your children in for their first exam by 6 months of age, and annually thereafter.

Adults

If you wear contact lenses, you need to have your eyes checked yearly. Routine visits for healthy adults should be evaluated every 12 to 24 months.

If you have a health condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol you may need to be checked every year or more frequently as determined by your optometrist.
